Animal Crisis 

The animal crisis in australia is beyond alarming & disturbing. Animals mean so much to people, yet they are being failed in so many ways. If no one can be a voice for them, then I will through this petition. I have 2 cats of my own (in picture of petition) & they are my everything. I have a brain condition so I apologise if I haven't worded things correctly.

The australian government needs to take URGENT action in relation to tougher laws, more funding for the RSPCA, shelters & rescues etc. Animals are being abandoned & surrendered at an ALARMING rate, to the point rescues/shelters are turning animals away & pet owners are even euthanising their healthy animals. People surrender for many different reasons, but it's the reasons that have no excuse that need much tougher action & laws. 

The "no excuse reasons" should have fines & even have an official registry of offenders of animals abandoned, so those people can never adopt/own a pet again where they can't repeat the cycle.

Renting is also a huge issue in relation to pets, & many people are needing to surrender their pets due to this. There need to be more places that are pet friendly, to prevent further animals from being surrendered. The cost of living is hard enough let alone people needing to part with their pets, all because their are no pet friendly rentals.

Tougher animal cruelty laws for animal abuse is needed, including jail time & never owning an animal again. There is also a policy that states nothing can be done for animals if they are being provided with shelter, food & water. Psychological abuse of animals is just as bad as physical abuse. There are also many videos & pictures of animals online, especially in australia who are in urgent danger or unsafe situations. Yet they can't be helped if there is no address, I've learnt this through contacting the RSPCA. If it was a person though, the police would be able to track them down yet because it's an animal it doesn't matter. There needs to be more resources such as animal police, to help more with cruelty cases with animals & even wildlife. 

Animal theft is also on the rise, yet it's not taken seriously. If there were animal police officers this would really help the growing amount of animals being stolen, that are missing or even getting lost.

There are soo many other issues in relation to the animal crisis, but these are the main areas that need to change. I have a brain condition, I can't foster or adopt any more animals at the moment & this petition is my way of helping animals, rescues & shelter's with this horrific crisis.
