Justice for Coco

The Issue

Coco was a Tea Cup Yorkie who lived with her family in Sterling on the Lake. Her mom described her as “fearless” and “didn’t know she was only five pounds”. On May 13th of 2020, Coco was in her front yard when two Akita’s who had gotten out of their yard grabbed her and ran off. Coco never barked or tried to get away. Unfortunately, little Coco didn’t make it, her mom wouldn’t have known what happened to her if it weren’t for neighbors who witnessed the incident and tried to stop it.

These two Akita’s killed a dog almost a year ago, and their owners were fined. The residents of SOTL didn’t expect it to happen again but sadly it has. Animal Control told Coco’s mom that “there is a two strike policy that will supposedly give the option of building a special enclosure that the dogs won’t be allowed to leave or they can hand them over to animal control to be euthanized. That’s if the judge orders that over another fine.”

How many fur babies does this neighborhood have to lose in order for something to be done? This is the second time these dogs have escaped from their yards and have killed another dog. Please sign this petition for Hall County and Animal Control to take this seriously and remove the dogs from their clearly incompetent owners.
