Growing up, my dad always taught me to value animals and to care for them. From hurt turtles to baby field mice, wild cats, and baby bunnies, my dad and siblings have always tried to help these animals. My dad even built an entire turtle pin in our backyard with a handmade water pool for the water turtles and plenty of other resources turtles need in order to care for them. Everyday we would feed the turtles and eventually when they got better, we would release them either near the creek and the pond that are behind our home.

On multiple occasions, I have either heard or seen videos of animals being abused. About a year ago, there was a video posted on instagram of a man setting a dog's head on top of a table/flat surface and pounding on the top of the dog's head. The video was so repulsive, and I stopped watching the second I saw what the man was doing because the scene was so frightening and sad.

For my senior project I am to choose a topic I feel strongly about and do research, present it, as well as propose a solution. Not only do I want to propose a solution, but I also want to set a course of action in place. Last year our former president, Donald Trump, signed a bill that made animal cruelty a federal felony called,"Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act." I would like to bring more attention to this bill and help make people aware that animal abuse IS a federal offense and they NEED TO report abuse if they know it is going on, or even just suspect it. Animals are living creatures just like us. Please help me protect these loving animals we call our pets and help put a stop to animal cruelty by bringing attention to this petition/issue, signing it, and help make difference and spread the word.
