Save Lundiemuir Woodland - habitat of red squirrels, hedgehogs, bats and numerous birds
The Issue
The woodland at Lundiemuir, just north of Piperdam, Angus was felled in Nov 2019 with no prior community consultation. However there was a legally binding condition to re-stock by June 2022.
The felling of the woodland destroyed the habitat of red squirrels, hedgehogs, badgers, bats and numerous bird species.
Thankfully some of these species have survived, but have been displaced into gardens and a much smaller area of woodland.
Re-stocking would have eventually re-established this habitat and allow these species ( some of whom are endangered) to thrive, However, the developers have now submitted a large building planning application that will result in the permanent loss to this habitat.
Please sign this petition to implore Angus Council to refuse this application and insist that re-stocking is carried out in line with the Forestry Scotland condition.
If we don’t act now it may be too late for these animals who are already endangered.
What do we really need - yet another large restaurant or preservation of our environment and wildlife for future generations.
Do we want to be known as the generation who stood by and let our local environment be destroyed ?
