The Issue

The Menai Straits has been designated one of the UK's most important Special Area of Conservation , an European Marine Site and protected through the EU Habitats Directive enacted into UK law.

There has been a significant increase in marine traffic along the Menai Straits in recent years which has resulted in an unprecedented number of complaints being received by the Maritime Coastguard Agency in relation to fast ribs and jet skis.

These activities impact significantly upon this important designated site  and wildlife.

The aim of this petition is to protect the Menai Straits for future generations and implement a speed limit following a recent fatality between a jet skier and RIB.  Introducing a 5 knot speed limit along the length of the Straits would be a very significant step towards improving safety and restoring peace and tranquillity to our beautiful stretch of water.

Please sign before another fatal accident happens
