It is with much disappointment to the local community that Captain Moonlite closed its doors on Sunday 1st March with no guarantee that they will open again when the building works are complete.

The primary purpose of this petition is for the local Surf Coast community to demonstrate to all of the team at Captain Moonlite how grateful we are that they chose our town to set up their restaurant. The many awards you have won through amazing food and excellent service do not tell the full story of the impact you have had on this town. The boost to tourism you created by making Anglesea a must visit destination has been phenomenal. But more importantly, it is atmosphere you created, even in the winter months, that captured our hearts. Having a place where the locals can celebrate special occasions or wind down after a busy week is something we will miss.

It was with disappointment that we read of your inability to agree terms with the ASLSC for you to keep going. And, whilst we won't try to second guess what confidential discussions have taken place, we just want you to know that the locals have everything crossed that they can be resolved before it is too late.

To that end, we ask the ASLSC committee to recognise the signatures in this petition when making their decision on who to award the restaurant tenancy too.
