Il governo siriano ha ripreso a bombardare Aleppo. Gli scontri e i raid aerei sono ricominciati, nonostante il 13 dicembre fosse entrato in vigore un cessate il fuoco per permettere ai ribelli e agli abitanti di lasciare la città. Da cinque anni Aleppo è teatro di scontri tra le truppe di Bashar al Assad e i ribelli, che fino a poco tempo fa controllavano la parte est della città. Ribelli che volevano solo essere liberi, la più universale delle aspirazioni. In questi ultimi giorni la situazione ha raggiunto livelli drammatici ed Aleppo est è stata oggetto di azioni militari di una entità ed efferatezza inaudite.

Le persone ad Aleppo pregano che piova, così che gli aerei non possano volare e continuare a bombardare la città. I bambini di Aleppo Air-defense batallion bruciano copertoni per dirottare i bombardamenti altrove. Tutti gli ospedali nella parte est della città sono stati distrutti, non ne rimane nessuno funzionante. Corpi di persone ferite o morte giacciono sulle strade, nessuno ha il coraggio di recuperarli per paura di essere ucciso.

Ad Aleppo, tutti i siriani devono prima o poi scappare o morire. La guerra civile in Siria ha giù ucciso più di 500.000 civili. Di quante altre vite, ospedali e scuole distrutti c'è bisogno prima che sia fatto qualcosa contro i crimini di guerra in Siria?

Atrocità di ogni genere vengono commesse ogni giorno in Siria ed i leader mondiali hanno una responsabilità di fronte a tutto ciò. Hanno la responsabilità di agire!

Da cittadini italiani, chiediamo al nuovo Governo e particolarmente al Presidente del Consiglio Paolo Gentiloni ed al Ministro degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale Angelino Alfano di fare quanto possibile per spingere i Governi degli Stati coinvolti nelle azioni militari in Siria ad arrestare i bombardamenti ad Aleppo il prima possibile e permettere l’evacuazione dei civili dalle zone assediate.

The Syrian government is bombing Aleppo again. Clashes and air raids started again, although a ceasefire had entered into force on December 13 to allow the rebels and the inhabitants to leave the city. For five years Aleppo has been the setting for fights between the troops of Bashar al Assad and the rebels, who until recently controlled the eastern part of the city. Rebels who just wanted to be free, the most universal aspirations. In the past few days the situation has reached dramatic levels and eastern Aleppo has been subject to military actions of an unprecedented scale and ferocity.

People in Aleppo are praying for rain, so that planes cannot fly and bomb the city. Children of Aleppo Air-defense batallion burn tires to hijack bombings elsewhere. All hospitals in the eastern part of the city were destroyed, none is functioning. Bodies of people injured and killed lie on the roads, no one has the courage to retrieve them for fear of being killed.

In Aleppo, all Syrians must eventually run away or die. The civil war has killed more than 500,000 civilians. How many other lives, destroyed hospitals and schools do we need before we do something against the war crimes in Syria?

Other atrocities are being committed every day in Syria and world leaders have a responsibility in front of this. They have a responsibility to take action! As Italian citizens, we ask the new government and particularly the Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano to do all that is in their power to push the governments of the states involved in military action in Syria to stop bombing Aleppo as soon as possible and allow the evacuation of civilians from besieged areas.

"History will not absolve us easily, but this failure compels us to do even more to offer the people of Aleppo our solidarity at this moment" - Ban Ki Moon at the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
