Four out of every five babies admitted to hospital under one year of age are formula fed. Tatamagouche Breastfeeding Support group has increased local breastfeeding duration rates dramatically. It is a grassroots group that should serve as a role model for every community in Canada. It provides accurate and updated information for parents as well as hands-on support from very knowledgable women and the crucial peer support that makes this program so successful.  The counsellors work voluntarily, however their budget of $4800.00 a year helps of offset some of their travel costs. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant I was thrilled to learn of this group and how effective it has been when I moved to this community one year ago. Please help me save this invaluable resource not only for our community but for all rural communities in Canada.
