In Michigan, a pair of steers escaped while being transported to the slaughterhouse. Instead of calling an animal control official or a veterinarian the local sheriffs' office decided to go all gung-ho on the poor animal. They could of try to calm the animal down but instead, they riddled the poor lost and confused steers with bullets.

"For public safety", that was the reply from the Sheriff's office. Daniel McKernan the owner of local animal sanctuary volunteered to save the animals but the sheriff department decided that sending out helicopters to track and exterminate the runaway animal was a better option.

There needs to be an investigation into the conduct of the Washtenaw County Sheriff Office. In a civilized society, it is unacceptable to riddle a scared and lost animal with bullets when there are better options.
