On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Fayette County public schools in Lexington, Kentucky went back to virtual learning. This has been a disservice to our children and students since March 2020. There have been nothing short of complications like connection issues, lack of available chrome books due to back order, an increase in suicide and child abuse cases, an increase in mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and anger, an increase in alcohol and drug use. With all of the available resources to safely send our children back to in person learning for those that need that option, there is no reason why we cannot do so. Businesses are closing permanently and unemployment is at an all-time high and now with many families with no one to safely stay home with children during the day for virtual learning, children are being left at home by themselves or with unsafe individuals. This is nothing short of unacceptable. GET OUR CHILDREN BACK TO IN PERSON LEARNING!
