United States Police Brutality/Training- Justice for minorities

United States Police Brutality/Training- Justice for minorities
The Issue
Police Brutality has become a nationwide social issue, and the growing count is alarming. It is evident that police brutality exist and corrective measures must be taken. Statistics show 385 people have been fatally wounded by an on duty police officer. Minorities already have to deal with economic isolation and racial profiling. The negative portrayal of an African American only adds to the negativity we teach our younger generation, adding to the racism disparity. Quick decisions lead to wrong decisions and the distrust between our officers creates fear, leading to irrational decisions that maybe open to adverse conclusions. Racism isolates minorities from the world. Ask yourself this, do we really want irrational officers assigned to protect and serve the people?
Corrective measures:
Law enforcement integration partnerships (Ex. - A white officer and an African American Officer partner together). Active recruiting of minorities so integration can be accomplished.
Sensitivity training-a standardization of training that deals with real human issues.
Increased diversity, and cultural training- If we can have a better appreciation for the differences in culture this will enable better social decisions. Community Policing programs so officers interact with minority communities.
Raise the standard for new recruits in law enforcement. Require continuing education credits, relevant to law enforcement. (Cultural education retreats, this way they will be more in touch with humanity and the people they are assigned to protect and serve).
Adequately budget for higher qualified employees.
In case of a death by an officer, No pay while on suspension.
Standardized investigative protocols on a federal level.
