With the growing Muslim population within the UMass Boston community, the lack of halal food makes dining options extremely limited not only for commuter students, but also students that dorm. Seeing as how there are no Halal foods available on campus, Muslim students find themselves constantly travelling into Boston, which is both time-consuming and costly. We want to make a change so that UMass Boston can accommodate these services for the Muslim population. Having halal food available would create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for minorities, especially those who come from a Muslim background.
