Andrew Yang has proposed the construction of a casino on Governors Island for the sake of economic recovery. While Governors Island has a ban against the building of casinos on the land following Rudy Giuliani’s attempt to build one in the 90s when he was mayor, we must ensure that Yang does not attempt to overturn this ban and remove this proposal from his campaign plans. Governors Island is a beautiful place, with values that include sustainability, environmentalism, and ecological development. This is no place for a casino. Please get Andrew Yang’s attention and stop what would be a horrid attempt to help New York City. Everyone can agree that Yang has numerous great- and numerous not-so-great- ideas for this city. Do not let this happen.
