The New York city transit system warrants an immediate shutdown; it's perhaps one of the weakest links in the fight against the Corona Virus in the entire United States of America. Although the ministry of health and the associated bodies have called for immediate social distancing and the quarantine of the people who had already contacted the deadly Corona Virus, the New York City Transit bus system seems not to have aligned itself to this new order and state of operations. First and foremost, the fact that the bus transportation system in a city as large as New York is still stacking the passengers on a bus is a terrible and terrifying thing. People should stay away from each other as much as possible because COVID-19 is airborne and contagious. The MTA New York City Transit bus system are therefore, imposing a hefty risk on the passengers and employees than necessary. This warrants the closure of MTA New York City Transit in favor of proper management of COVID-19.

The situation inside the air-tight New York City transit buses is more terrible than one can imagine, let alone the rise of the Coronavirus. With the absence of gears or any protection at the moment, stacking passengers in these buses at this stage of the contagious disease, may soon turn out as more criminal than murder and suicide combined. Imagine a group of passengers on an air-tight bus, some of them with the Coronavirus. When a single person abruptly starts sneezing and coughing, almost everyone will be affected instantly. Now taking a chance on 3-4 people coughing and sneezing at the same time; this is practically just as dangerous as being injected with COVID-19. The government needs to take action, the earlier, the better.

Another blow to MTA New York City transportation system, the system has not provided safety gear to bus operators. They have only offered prison made hand sanitizers, which is not enough to combat the spread of COVID-19. At a closer look, the buses in New York City continues to carry a large number of passengers from diverse background and does not take a chance in inspecting or testing them for any sign of COVID-19. Because of no protective gear and essentials for safety against the COVID-19 transmission, the passengers are likely to contact the Coronavirus owing to the poor conditions inside these buses. It is traumatizing for operators to drive several groups of people per day unprotected. Imagine driving the city bus unprotected, with several outbursts of coughing and sneezing throughout the day. Then, having to go home to your love ones at the end of your day. Some Operators are going home to family members that are not completely healthy individuals. Now, they are carelessly placed at a greater risk of being in contact with the Coronavirus. We are demanding that the government take action, now.

MTA New York City transit has failed not only in conforming to directives of the ministry of health but also in providing safety gears against COVID-19 transmission. Just recently, the masses demanded that Uber should ban rides involving two passengers or more in favor of individual trips. The argument stressed on an attempt to combat the looming crisis of the Coronavirus. While companies like Uber responded to the public demand more quickly, MTA New York City transit seems not to have realized the trick. What will it take for the government to agree that Bus Operators are not immune to this virus; therefore we need to be in quarantine with the rest of the world. We too, have families to go home to. The fare box on the MTA New York City Transit bus is stationed only inches away from the operator. Passengers are required to enter through the front door of the bus: which in return is too close for comfort. There is a need to do something to the fact that the New York transit system has continuously frustrated the attempt to combat the spread of the deadly COVID-19.

The Importance of Social Distancing — Social distancing is the act of avoiding close contact in an attempt to reduce the chances of Coronavirus or even possibilities of passing the virus to third parties. Social distancing may turn out as one of the most effective ways of managing the deadly Coronavirus. Social distancing is critical because it is perhaps one of the most excellent tools of humanity against the COVID-19 spread. At the moment, there are no confirmed vaccines for the infectious disease and no ability to modify either biological behavior of the virus; hence the only solution is minimizing the contact with each other. Social distancing along with the environmental precautions; hence it may soon turn out to be the most effective way of managing coronavirus. Overseers at MTA New York City transit are yet to realize the stake of the matter; and how serious it is to combat the spread of this infectious disease. Social distancing might not be the means to end the fight against the Coronavirus, but at the moment, it is the best strategy against the dangerous beast.

As the virus is spreading like wild fire, the need for public health and protection against the deadly Coronavirus is more urgent now than ever before. There is a need to manipulate and structure the public transportation systems in an attempt to protect the public from higher chances of contracting the deadly Coronavirus. The fact that the buses stack a large number of passengers and are not provided with any protective mechanism against the deadly COVID-19 warrant an immediate closure at public demand.

The need for immediate adoption of social distancing is more urgent now than ever before. Individuals should always work hard to eliminate contact with other people at all costs. Making informed decisions to realize this involves canceling all public functions, encouraging working from home alternatives, and shutting down sectors that frustrate the efforts to achieve full-scale social distancing. One prominent social distancing antagonist is MTA New York City transit system. The government, therefore, should find means of shutting down operations in this sector at all cost.
