Dear Mr. Kellner, Mr. Spano, and Gov Cuomo:

It is with great distress we hear that NYS is considering dropping Senator Bernie Sanders from the upcoming primary ballot.  (Thanks to a very recently added provision in the state budget.)

As you know, Senator Sanders has suspended his campaign – not ended it – and therefore is still collecting delegates.

New York State has an absolute right to have their voices heard.   

As you surely are aware, collection of delegates for a suspended campaign is far from inconsequential. 

As Sanders himself has stated, delegates are crucial in order to influence DNC platform choices at the convention.

In addition, if former Vice President Joe Biden were for any reason unable to accept the nomination, it is vital that voters’ preference for Sanders as a replacement be fully counted and acknowledged.  

Sanders must remain on NYS ballots, and the primary held. To deny New Yorkers such would be an intentional and tragic violation of democracy itself.
