New York State intends to relocate Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, a maximum security facility into a minimum security setting. The staff of NYSCOPBA have serious health and safety concerns about working conditions in the Dunlap building especially with this population. The continuity of care as well as patient safety would take a sharp decline in this less secure facility. As such, we've created this petition to raise awareness and halt this move. As such we are petitioning the commissioner of the Office of Mental Health Ann M. Sullivan as well as Governor Andrew M. Coumo to do the right thing and halt this move in the interest of providing the best care possible for the patients as well as, a safe working environment for all employees working at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center.
