A little 9 year old girl in Rochester was handcuffed and put in the back of a police car. In the video, the female officer said to the sobbing child “Sit back otherwise pepper spray is going in your eyeballs”. As expected the little girl continued to cry and it is unclear who sprayed her. In agony, handcuffs, and fear she pleads with the officers to wipe her eyes. The male police officer in the video coldly shuts the door and says “unbelievable”. They took her away from her family in handcuffs in the back of a police vehicle in hysterics and pain. Imagine what you were doing when you were 9. You were a baby. A mere child. As harmless as can be. That little girl is a baby. She was innocent and oblivious the horrible things that happen in this world. The police officers however completely disregarded this and ruthlessly assaulted her and called it “upholding the law”.

     Police officers cannot have this much power. Think about this, it’s hard to go police officers because they would hold the cards in the situation. They’re supposed to protect but that puts them in a higher position of power than us. Let’s say if I, a poc or anybody of that matter killed a police officer it’d be different. But vice versa and nothing would happen to the police officer (if they killed a poc). Those who have the ability to protect have the ability to destroy. But the thing is they destroy “in the name of the law” which then would be considered protecting by the institution which is their job.

     First, those police officers need to be jobless ASAP. Second, the system needs to be fixed by offering better and more training to those applying for those in the police force. It should be similar to that of the military because the goal of the police is to protect our country. There also should be a test questioning their morals which will determine their instincts in a position of power. If they fail then they are mentally unfit to help protect our country. Police officers HAVE to do better for our country and our people. Who are we gonna call when the police break the law. Thank you for reading have a great day.
