Ban Declawing in NY

Ban Declawing in NY
The Issue
Declawing cats isn't a humane action, it's a surgical procedure that removes an animal’s claws by the means of amputation and can sometimes fail and instead of amputation of the toes, the whole paw can be amputated. There is no reason to declaw cats to protect human health. Declawing can even lead to health complications for the animal and the NIH, CDC, USPHS, and IDSA, all have specifically stated that declawing is not advised. So far, only eight cities in CA, and the city and county of Denver, Colorado have made declawing illegal.
This isn't saying that it should be banned completely, declawing can still be allowed only if required due to medical reasons.
