AAMI Insurance: Please cover my engine damage (under comprehensive insurance ) which was caused due to the accident

The issue

My car accident occurred on 16’January’2014 (Over 8 months ago) and AAMI is still refusing to fix my engine under comprehensive insurance

The car I hit had to be towed away, reported the issue to AAMI under comprehensive insurance

AAMI promised that my car will be fully fixed under my comprehensive insurance.

AAMI fixed the bumper but the not the engine and then refused to acknowledge the damage

·        I advised the knocking noise to the repairer when I dropped the car off. He advised the same, will be fixed. AAMI did not complete an assessment report

·        When I picked the car up, I asked if the knocking noise was fixed and I was advised it was!

·        I started hearing it after a few mins of driving. I rang AAMI at this point, AAMI asked me to take it back to the repairer.

·        I took the car back, at this point Stewart & Armstrong, Chatswood NSW stated they were NOT a mechanic and were ONLY a smash repairer.

·        When I advised him of the noise not being fixed, he (Stewart & Armstrong) out rightly denied it that there was NO such noise. I took him (Stewart & Armstrong) for a drive with me and inspite of this he was NOT very keen on acknowledging the knocking noise

·        He (Stewart & Armstrong) said AAMI wouldn’t fix engines and would replace as its an expensive affair.

·        When I asked him (Stewart & Armstrong) about the noise, he reluctantly said he will take it to an AAMI mechanic (Artarmon Automotive service) and get it assessed.

·        When he (Stewart & Armstrong) brought the car back from the AAMI assessment it sounded like a lawn mower.

o   From the repairer being unable to acknowledge the noise TO it sounding like a lawn mower is a big difference!

o   He (Stewart & Armstrong) wanted me out of there before him taking ANY responsibility and advised its best that I take it to my mechanic right away.

o   Stewart & Armstrong repairer knew they were liable.

 ·        This car was in impeccable condition with ALL log book services completed for the last 9 years since 2005

 ·        Have had continuous comprehensive insurance for 9 years since 2005

 ·        I went through all the internal channels and then to the FOS

 ·        AAMI had spent enough money on their internal investigators to prove me wrong

 ·        I have rented car for a few weeks, borrowed my mates car, car pooled, public transported and all the options available to me

 ·        I have spent substantial money and time each day to get to work

 ·        I thought having AAMI comprehensive insurance protected me against all accident damages including engine damage.

 ·        As Nasseer Zahr stated, Insurance companies always win, even if it is not fair – please help me get fairness from AAMI Insurance. They could fix this with a wave of a pen, but I know seeing thousands of customers stand on our side will help convince them to do the right thing.

 ·        This is my last hope - can you please sign your name to help show AAMI that treating people like this is not OK, and ask them to pay my deserved claim?

 Thank you so much.
