Preserve Open Space in Chester County - Add Greenfield Land to Marsh Creek State Park
The Issue
The former Greenfield property, located adjacent to Marsh Creek State Park in Chester County, PA is up for Sheriff Sale. This places the property at risk for purchase and development. For many years, the Greenfields were kind enough to allow park-goers use of the lovely trails on their property, including mountain bikers, equestrians, joggers, and hikers. In fact, many people have utilized the trails on this property and do not realize it is not part of the park! In the past, they had also allowed equestrian and mountain bike organizations to host events utilizing their trails as well.
Please sign this petition to alert local state representatives that we do not want this land to be purchased for development, and that it should be preserved as park land with Marsh Creek. We do not want these woods and trails to become another housing development, hotel, bank, etc.! Marsh Creek State Park is a state treasure, and used extensively by the residents of Pennsylvania. Enlarging the park would help preserve open space, while at the same time allowing Chester County citizens and visitors to enjoy the park to an even greater extent.
The property is located on the northwest side of the park, including areas between Chalfont Rd. and Marshall Rd. The property also extends on the other side of Marshall Rd., towards Devereaux Rd., which also used to include beautiful trails. It appears parts of the property are currently undergoing logging.
