STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A Mariners Harbor parolee compounded his problems with the law by attacking two parole officers who tried to arrest him yesterday for a violation, prosecutors allege.
Curtis Wright, 25, of the 100 block of Continental Place, elbowed one officer in the chest and shoved two others in the state Parole Division offices on Bay Street, Tompkinsville, said court papers.
A law enforcement source said Wright was trying to flee after being taken into custody for a curfew violation and an unspecified Transit-related matter.
The suspect has been on parole since February 2011. He was released from prison then after serving a three-year sentence for a felony assault conviction in Brooklyn, according to online records of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
During the scuffle, Wright further resisted arrest by flailing his arms and refusing to lie down and put his hands behind his back, allege prosecutors. Five parole officers were hurt and treated at the hospital, court records said.
The suspect is accused of five felony counts of assault, said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan. He's also charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, obstruction and attempted escape.
