The Task Force for a Safe School (TFSS) is a group of concerned P.S. 163 parents working with the support of school leadership and the PTA to protect the children, teachers and staff of our school. The proposed construction of a 20-story facility directly adjacent to our low structure and outdoor spaces would endanger health and safety as well as the quiet learning environment our children now enjoy.     

Specific threats include:
Continuous high-decibel noise, making it impossible to teach and learn
High levels of dust, airborne toxins including lead, posing an immediate and serious risk to the health of students, teachers and staff at the school
Severe harm to the physical structure of the school
Dangerous increases in traffic and congestion both during and after construction
Dangers posed by the use of massive construction equipment (cranes, etc.) high above our children's heads
