Free Joel Roberts from a 50 to life sentence: Justice for the unjustified!

The Issue

In 2001, at 18 years of age, Joel Roberts was arrested and later sentenced to a 50 year to life prison term in 2003. His charges are felony murder 2nd, criminal weapons possession and assault 2nd. All charges that weren't proven during trial beyond a reasonable doubt by Brooklyn ADA Anna Sigga-Nicolazzi. There was no gun powder residue found on him, his finger prints were not found on the weapons used in this horrible crime and he was actually shot himself during the time of the shooting. Instead the word of a two time felon was taken into account and he was tried and convicted for a crime he is innocent of by judge Cheryl E. Chambers.

Furthermore, his due process rights were violated when the judge allowed a "witness" to testify on behalf of the prosecution after she sat in the gallery the entire trial and against the defenses' pleas to properly investigate this surprise witness before testimony was entered. This is a case that is filled with hearsay and zero facts.

Now, after 16 years of imprisonment, Joel is struggling to have his case reopened and overturned because the presiding judge is now on the appellate court. We ask that you the people, help get justice for this wrongfully convicted young man.
