Give Garry Monk an Extended Contract at Leeds United

Give Garry Monk an Extended Contract at Leeds United
The Issue
For years, Leeds United have struggled under ownership which has sought constant change in response to issues at this magnificent club. From the sacking of Brian McDermott in 2014 at the start of the Massimo Cellino era, we have endured a series of managers either under qualified, under supported or undermined. In total, those managers numbered six before Garry Monk was handed the job at the beginning of the 16/17 season.
From a side united in disharmony (which had finished only 13th in the league during the previous season), Garry Monk and his backroom team of Pep Clotet, James Beattie, Darryl Flahaven and Sean Rush have crafted a team which have only narrowly missed out on the playoffs.
More than that though, they've done so with only a modicum of financial support and almost no run in time, having to make do with a extremely brief pre-season. Making arguably some of the best signings of any club in the league, Garry Monk and team have brought through youth prospects and combined them with free transfers and astute loans to bring something back to Leeds United we fans haven't seen in years - a team we can truly love.
It's witnessed in the dozens of new chants which have sprung up over the season, the surging ticket sales, the outpouring of love over social media and the countless immensely positive notices written by respected journalists across the world.
Quite simply, it is our belief as fans that Garry Monk and his team should be given the time and backing to return this club to where it belongs - the Premier League. To return to square one at this stage would undermine the critical work that has occurred over the last 10 months.
New ownership will often believe that what is available elsewhere is a better fit for their particular desires, but you only need to look around at the countless examples of clubs which have needlessly changed their managers, only to lose any chance of success.
We ask you once more to consider the will of the fans in your decision.
Regards,
The undersigned.
