In July 2011 21-year old Andrea Wilmot was attacked and stabbed 20 times  in her own backyard by a former co-worker against whom, she had a restraining order.  

Andrea's cries were heard by her family and they rushed to her aid.  Andrea survived the attack but is left with a permanent spinal injury.  Her attacker faces up to 20-years years in prison for attempted murder but under the current RI "Good Time" law, he could earn up to 10 days off of his prison sentence for every month of good behavior.

There is a current proposal (H7112) before the legislature to change the "Good Time" law to eliminate "good behavior" credits for convicted murderers, 1st degree sex offenders, child molesters and kidnappers.  

The proposed change does not include convictions of attempted murder which would still allow for time off for good behavior.
