The Issue

The Anchorage School Board needs to hear from everyone:
Parents-Grandparents-Guardians-Tax-Paying Residents-Business owners of Anchorage.
Tell them you oppose the 2 proposed policies written in the language of Social Equity Theory and Critical Race Theory. Now is the time to take a stand to protect our children.

From an article by Teacher Paul Rossi:
“Antiracist” training sounds righteous, but it is the opposite of truth in advertising. It requires teachers like myself to treat students differently on the basis of race. Furthermore, in order to maintain a united front for our students, teachers at Grace are directed to confine our doubts about this pedagogical framework to conversations with an in-house “Office of Community Engagement” for whom every significant objection leads to a foregone conclusion. Any doubting students are likewise “challenged” to reframe their views to conform to this orthodoxy."
"Equity" was used as the reason to deny students access to PUBLIC in person learning this past year. This destructive language based on social equity theory, will continue to destroy access to learning and create more barriers to learning than ever before.....all in the name of "justice" and "fairness."
The board and administration have not shown in meetings and townhalls-clarity, unity and understanding to the threats these policies impose on students, parents and teachers, and have ignored repeated attempts requesting they prioritize professional/continuing education regarding theories in scholarship, the history behind these, and the consequences of regulation and compliance.
Therefore:
We oppose BOTH the Anti-Racism and
Instructional Equity Policies proposed by Anchorage School District board members: Margo Bellamy and Deena Mitchell.
These policies, their language and any subsequent Administrative Regulation poses a threat to our youth and teachers, is damaging to our youth's mental stability and divisive to our community.
The language of these policies intend to force a social, sexual and political agenda that has NO place in public education in Anchorage and distracts from the true intent of public education that of: ACADEMIC excellence-not indoctrination to false ideology, scholarship and theories being propogated-not by our community, but by paid outside activists.
Instead, we ask every board member to laser focus on education, the district mission and increasing academic performance by honoring goals about Reading and Math in ASD. Non academic distractions like these policies and practices, imposed on teachers and students, will regress student outcomes and more.
Our children have been out of school for nearly a year. They must not be subject now, to further non academic agendas that are not progressing academic learning, nor value and respect family values and individual privacy rights.
We value to: UNITE as a community, BUILD up one another in love, and GROW in character and more perfect unity within the education triangle: Students, Parents and Teachers.
Parents have not consented to this threatening agenda written in the language of Social Equity and Critical Race Theories. Neither have Parents handed our children over to government control while enrolled in public schools. Instead, Parent's possess the primacy and the fundamental right's to direct the upbringing of our children at home and in education and The Anchorage School District must respect those rights at all times.
