ANC 1B: Prevent new dog daycare "City Dog! Club" from riding off the success of similarly named City Dogs Daycare and City Dogs Rescue, located just a few blocks away from the proposed 2303 14th St...

The Issue

City Dogs Daycare began in 1999 in its current location near 18th and T Streets NW. City Dogs has been building close relationships with dog owners ever since then. They have built their name and presence in the community by giving area pets attentive care, and by starting a separate charitable rescue organization.

City Dogs Rescue was started in a relationship with City Dogs daycare in 2005 and has built a community of caring petlovers who rescue and adopt dogs from kill shelters.  City Dogs Rescue incorporated separately in 2011 and received 501(c)(3) non profit status and has rescued and adopted over 550 dogs from high kill and overcrowded shelters since that date.

A new business named Citydog! Club, coming from out of state, is asking DC for permission to operate a similar business engaging in dog daycare, boarding, and grooming in the View 14 building at 14th and Florida NW.

In just a matter of days, Citydog! Club has managed to confuse many long time friends and clients of City Dogs Rescue and City Dogs Daycare. Both organizations have received an outpouring of questions on the relationship with this proposed new business. As there is no relationship, we ask you not to endorse their business plan at View 14.
