An Urgent Appeal for Municipal Funding for a Stray Cat Spay/Neuter Program in Primošten
The Issue
To: The Honorable Mayor of Primošten and the Municipal Council
We, the undersigned international tourists and visitors, are writing to you to express our deep admiration for your beautiful town. Primošten is a jewel of the Adriatic, a destination we cherish, return to, and recommend to others.
However, our enjoyment of your town is consistently and profoundly overshadowed by a visible and heartbreaking crisis: the immense population of homeless and suffering street cats.
On every visit, we are appalled to witness the scale of this problem. Every year, we see countless cats and kittens While we understand that tourists feeding them in the summer provides temporary relief, we are deeply concerned for their fate during the harsh winter months.
This situation is not just a tragedy for the animals; it is a serious issue for your community.
It Is an Unending Cycle: Without intervention, this problem will only worsen. Allowing these animals to reproduce uncontrollably creates an unsustainable and cruel cycle of birth, suffering, and death.
The only effective, humane, and long-term solution is a systematic, government-supported Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) / Spay & Neuter program.
Local volunteers and small organizations, like Mace Funcutice, are doing heroic work, but they cannot solve this crisis alone. They lack the resources and authority. This problem requires official municipal action.
We, therefore, urgently and respectfully petition you, Mr. Mayor, and the Primošten Municipal Council, to:
Allocate dedicated public funds to implement and sustain a comprehensive spay/neuter program for the town's homeless cat population.
By investing in this humane solution, Primošten will not only end the suffering of these animals but also enhance its reputation as a compassionate, responsible, and truly first-class destination for tourists from around the world.
