Right now the Reserve Bank of Australia and other financial regulators are asking for submissions about the future of cash supply in Australia.

The discussion paper proposes new regulations and a new agency to oversee the cash industry.
This is what cash users need:
1) RBA must confirm that cash is our legal tender, our notes will never expire, will always be issued and accepted in Australia.
2) Government must introduce a REAL cash mandate requiring ALL physical retailers to accept our legal tender, with very few exceptions.
3) All corporations, financial institutions, government agencies and local councils must accept cash for all payments.
4) All fines, fees, licenses, rates, utilities, mortgages and rent must be payable in cash.
5) Supermarkets must do more than accept cash, they must support cash with more cash terminals and more generous EFTPOS cash-out rules.
6) Banks must agree to supply cash in all towns, suburbs and communities in Australia.

Our petition is making a difference.
The Senate's Rural and Regional Affairs Committee adopted our petition as their number one recommendation in their bank closures report:
"The committee recommends that the Australian Government adopt a policy recognising access to financial services as an essential service.
To this end, it should commit to guaranteeing reasonable access to cash and financial services for all Australians."

Unfortunately, the Albanese government is yet to respond to the report, so please make a submission to the current consultation.
