AN APPEAL FOR MERCY AND JUSTICE FOR OUR ATRIA DOGS
The Issue

A Campus Silenced: Today We Lost Family
Today, the spirit of Atria Institute of Technology was shattered.
For years, our campus dogs were far more than stray animals—they were our companions, our silent supporters, and an integral part of our daily lives. We knew each of them by name—including Choco—their gentle eyes, their sleeping spots, and the way they ran to greet us between classes. They were fully vaccinated, neutered, cared for, and deeply loved by generations of students.
Today, that gentle presence was violently torn away.
Students watched in horror as these peaceful dogs were chased, traumatized, and brutally trapped in harsh nets. Seeing animals we have nurtured for years crying out in fear, trapped, bleeding, and injured through the netting was agonizing. They did not understand why the very place they called home turned on them. Now, their quiet resting spots stand empty, and an unbearable, heart-wrenching silence hangs over our campus.
Violation of Honorable Supreme Court Guidelines & ABC Rules
While student safety is paramount, safety and cruelty cannot coexist. Under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules and guidelines mandated by the Honorable Supreme Court of India, campus dogs cannot simply be removed or relocated arbitrarily.
Specific mandatory parameters must be fully established and satisfied before picking up campus dogs:
1. Secure Perimeter Boundaries: All compound walls must be solid concrete—not wire mesh or broken fencing—to prevent external dog movement.
2. Standardized Wall Height: Boundary walls must meet a minimum required height of 6 feet.
3. Controlled Access Points: Ingress and egress must be strictly restricted so dogs can only enter through designated gated entrances.
4. Comprehensive Waste Management: Waste and garbage disposal systems in and around campus grounds must be systematically cleared and maintained to avoid attracting non-resident dogs.
5. Student Animal Welfare Committee (AWC): Institutional protocols dictate forming a student-led Animal Welfare Committee to resolve localized issues before undertaking wholesale removals.
None of these prerequisite infrastructural parameters have been satisfied on campus. Unilateral removal of these vaccinated, territory-holding dogs creates a territorial vacuum that will inevitably lead to an influx of un-vaccinated, unfamiliar stray dogs from neighboring areas—defeating the very purpose of student safety.
OUR PRAYERS AND IMMEDIATE DEMANDS
We urgently request the BNCC, GBA, and Atria Institute Administration to intervene with compassion and lawfulness:
1. Immediate Release & Return: Facilitate the immediate return of our vaccinated and neutered campus dogs to their familiar grounds.
2. Formation of an Animal Welfare Committee (AWC): Grant students the official mandate to set up a recognized AWC to handle feeding schedules, health monitoring, vaccination records, and student safety responsibly.
3. Humane, Individual Case Management: Address specific behavioral or safety concerns individually and humanely, rather than resorting to indiscriminate mass relocation.
4. Compliance with the Law: Ensure all future campus animal management strictly adheres to Supreme Court directives and compassionate ABC guidelines.
STAND WITH US
These dogs trusted us, and today we failed to protect them. Please help us right this wrong. Give our campus dogs a voice, demand accountability, and bring them back home where they belong.
