Do not give the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to actress Angelina Jolie

The Issue

Angelina Jolie has had a fairly questionable history with her philanthropic and humanitarian work. It is important to note that she has adopted three children of three different nationalities. In 2002, Maddox Chivan Thornton Jolie (later on renamed, Jolie-Pitt), Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt in 2005, and Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt in 2007. There's enough ground to suggest that these three adoptions were performed under legally questionable circumstances. The

More importantly, it's Miss Jolie's association to the Al Assads, Syria's dictator and his wife, what the Board of Governors should be more concerned with, as she refuses to answer the media on this topic, despite her alleged support for the Syrian refugee children.

Miss Jolie has also been quoted as describing as "beautiful" the shooting of a rape scene for her directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey". For filmmakers, this is never an easy thing to shoot, so her choice in words is appalling, considering she is now trying to denounce "sexual violence" in spite of her well known personal struggle with self-harming behavior.

Such prestigious award cannot be handed over to someone who refuses to this day to answer questions about her associations, adoption methods, donations, and life choices. A recipient of this award is supposed to be a role model, and make exemplary choices in benefit of humanitarian causes; tasks which, to this day, Miss Jolie has fulfilled in a very questionable way. To this day, she makes journalists sign agreements before giving interviews, and she exerts a very strict control over what is to be asked.
