The Comoro Islands in the Indian Ocean are in the midst of an intense political crisis. Opposition leaders accuse the president of trying to establish a dictatorship. Over the past few months, he has reinforced his powers thanks to a constitutional referendum. Protests have also been banned and many of the president’s critics have been arrested.
