A public campaign to spotlight Home Depot's corporate political spending has a very real potential for change.  Investment firm and Home Depot shareholder NorthStar Asset Management has pushed again and again for Home Depot to change its policy for "company political contributions that are incongruent with stated company values or policies" because it "create(s) risks to the company’s brand, reputation, and ultimately shareholder value."
