We, the undersigned Americans, want to state clearly that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support the use of military force against Greenland.

We recognize and deeply regret the fear, anguish, and disappointment many Greenlanders have expressed — especially after decades of cooperation, trust, and friendship. Greenland has hosted American bases through consent and partnership, and Denmark has stood beside the United States in times of conflict. These are commitments that deserve respect, not threats.

Polling shows that most Americans oppose any attempt to acquire Greenland by force. Many of us are also alarmed by rhetoric that risks undermining NATO — an alliance that has helped prevent war for generations and remains vital to global stability.

We respect Greenland’s sovereignty and the right of its people to determine their own future. You are not a bargaining chip or a strategic asset — you are a people.

This letter is offered as a gesture of solidarity, respect, and reassurance: many Americans stand with you.
