Giving AU students the pass/fail option

The Issue

Given the major changes to our college education due to the spread of COVID-19, many American University students will find difficulty performing to their best abilities in their now online classes.  To mitigate this, we think it would be best to give AU students the option to change their grading to pass/fail up until the last day of classes.  Many students are being forced to drastically change their daily schedules to take their classes online.  More importantly, many students live in different time zones, especially international students, which will cause more difficulty.  If given the pass/fail option, students will have room to adjust to this new system without it hurting their GPA.  It is important to add that many other colleges have done this in response to COVID-19: Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Georgetown, St.John's, etc.  If you believe that American University should follow suit, please sign this petition!
