Adding Diagnosis of Postpartum Psychosis to DSM

Adding Diagnosis of Postpartum Psychosis to DSM
The Issue
We request that the DSM Committee of the American Psychiatric Association recognize “Postpartum Psychosis” as a unique diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Recognizing “Postpartum Psychosis” as a unique psychiatric diagnosis will ensure that these women receive appropriate treatment.
Supported by Postpartum Psychosis Taskforce of Postpartum Support International.
Postpartum Psychosis Awareness Day will be May 6. To learn more and support visit www.cherishedmom.org/pppawarenessday
