Early Detection- Mammograms before 40!

The Issue

Early Detection is the name of the game! I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer two weeks before my 30th birthday and to say I was shocked was an understatement. While I am aware that currently the recommended age for a mammogram is 40, there are so many people between 20-30 years of age whom this has affected. Whether they went to the doctor knowing they had an issue or if they went for something totally unrelated only to find out they have cancer. I feel like their voices as well as mines are going unheard! There has to be a way that we can change this. This affects families all over the world and you wouldn't know unless you've done some research. Who would know because the recommended age is 40!? Something can be changed and something can be done! If you can allow people to smoke at the age of 18 then you can allow women and men to screen themselves as they wish before the age of 40. If something doesn't change soon, we will lose more than just family and friends before their time, we will lose assurance and hope. Who came up with 40 anyways? Why is that their choice?
