American Airlines: Please include vegan options on all flights serving meals
The Issue
Special meals are not included on all AA flights. Therefore, it is not possible to request an all vegetarian-vegan meal on a wide array of flights, like stated on this link:
http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/duringFlight/dining/specialMeals.jsp
Special meals are available on Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack and Breakfast Snack flights when ordered in advance.
Order at least 24 hours prior to the flight:
- In First and Business Classes on non-stop transcontinental flights in the U.S.. Special Meals are not available in our main cabin on domestic U.S. flights.
- In all classes to or from Europe and Asia
- In all classes to or from Belo Horizonte, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador or Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Brazil; Asuncion, Paraguay; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile or Montevideo, Uruguay.

Veganism is a growing trend all over the world especially in North America and Europe. A company from this region should be no stranger to this reality.
All passengers pay for the food being offered to them on board given the case. As an ethical vegan I do not wish to pay for food that represents cruelty to other beings, pollution to the environment and a risk for human health (animal products are linked to a high number of diseases).
As a responsible company, you should be aware of all the benefits of an ALL VEGETARIAN diet: optimal human health, preventing diseases, less waste, action against climate change, environmentally-friendly, better and more productive use of our natural resources, limiting and ending animal abuse and exploitation.
Also consider, VEGAN meals can be cost-effective as well.
It's time to get to know and truly connect with your customers' thougts, ideals and needs. It's time to adapt yourselves to our current times and to respond to the needs of this society in the most ethical and coherent way possible.
So far, I have not been given one single plausible justification for not offering special meals including vegan options on the flights offering meals.
My suggestion:
First and Business class: ALWAYS include vegan options in the menu offered on ALL flights.
Coach class: Please reinstate special meals on ALL flights to Central and South America including a vegan option at all times.

American Airlines is a company recognized for having been able to successfully face many challenges along history. Now I ask you to change a policy that will respond to an important and growing segment of your customers while having a positive impact in response to the issues of today's world.
Thank you.
