Friends and Colleagues,

Audiology has been recently vilified in traditional and social media outlets. There has been little to no response, from our national audiology associations, to these often unwarranted and unsubstantiated attacks on our profession, its value and its integrity.

 The American Academy of Audiology’s stated mission is to promote “quality hearing and balance care by advancing the profession of audiology through leadership, advocacy, education, public awareness, and support of research” and proudly state that they are “the world's largest professional organization of, by, and for audiologists”. With this mission and statement comes actual responsibility and accountability to meet the needs of the profession and its professionals. It must be Audiology over organization. We feel as though we are not being currently represented appropriately in the public arena.

 We, audiologists through the US, are respectfully requesting, through this petition, that the American Academy of Audiology actually fulfill this mission through immediate creation and implementation of an audiology education, awareness and media response plan.

 Join us by signing this petition and calling on the American Academy of Audiology and our elected representatives to immediately act and advocate, in both traditional and social media outlets, for our profession and its professionals. Our future depends on your swift action.
