Ameren Missouri: Continue Offering Solar Rebates

Ameren Missouri: Continue Offering Solar Rebates
The Issue
On Friday, October 11th, 2013 Ameren Missouri filed paperwork with the Public Service Commision asking for permission to stop paying solar rebates for 2013, claiming they had reached the 1% cost limit as laid out by the Renewable Energy Standard (RES). Without this rebate, Ameren's customers won't be able to put up solar, solar companies won't be able to sell solar, and all Missourians would suffer from continued over-reliance on coal and gas. The demand for solar has only increased since Ameren started offering the rebates in January 2010, and the spectacular growth in the solar industry has created hundreds of permanent, local jobs. The amount of money Ameren has spent on solar rebates is a drop in the bucket compared to their ongoing fossil fuel expenses. Ameren should continue to offer solar rebates to their customes as required by law.
