Amendment X: Recognise Jesus Christ as King
The Issue
Would a Christian Nation Accept Christ as King?
Many Western nations identify with Christianity through their history, traditions and political institutions. Yet their constitutional systems place political authority in the hands of elected representatives, governments and existing laws.
This raises a fundamental question: If Jesus Christ returned, would these nations have a constitutional pathway to recognise Him as their sovereign ruler?
Amendment X proposes such a pathway.
What Amendment X Demands
We call for the introduction of Amendment X into the constitutional frameworks of Western nations, establishing legal provisions for Jesus Christ of Nazareth, or anyone appointed by Him, to assume supreme governing authority upon His return.
The proposal provides two possible constitutional approaches: permitting the rule of a non-national, or establishing a specific exception for Jesus Christ and anyone He appoints.
Amendment X proposes a transfer of sovereignty from the people and existing political institutions to God, through the rule of Jesus Christ.
Under this proposal, Christ's authority would not depend on elections, political parties or democratic approval. Upon the transfer of power, existing democratic self-government would end, and legislative, executive and judicial authority would be vested in Christ, subject to whatever powers He permitted others to exercise.
The Law of Recognising Christ
Amendment X must include a legal provision establishing how the true Jesus Christ would be distinguished from false claimants.
Three essential criteria are proposed:
- His Name: The claimant must bear the name Jesus, or its Aramaic form, as identified in scripture, and must not have been given another name at birth.
- His Knowledge: The claimant must possess the greatest knowledge and wisdom among humankind, demonstrating the ability to answer all questions and possessing knowledge of all things.
- His Governance: The claimant must call for the Rule of God according to the Bible and its true interpretation, rejecting electoral authority and human-made laws as the source of sovereignty.
All three criteria must be fulfilled together.
Miracles alone shall not constitute sufficient proof of identity. They may serve as supplementary evidence, but cannot replace the three recognition criteria.
The Constitutional Change Requested
We ask national governments, parliaments and constitutional lawmakers to initiate the constitutional processes necessary to introduce Amendment X, including its proposed Law of Recognising Christ.
The requested change is not merely the symbolic recognition of Jesus Christ as King. It proposes a fundamental replacement of democratic political sovereignty with divine sovereignty upon His return.
Such a change would have far-reaching implications for constitutional institutions, civil rights, religious freedom and people of all faiths and none. These consequences, along with the legal process for recognising Christ or verifying His appointment of a representative, would require explicit constitutional consideration.
Amendment X proposes that the constitutional order be prepared for the rule of Jesus Christ upon His return.
