Grocery Outlet: Amend What Was Done to Greg Danker

Petition to: Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. and its Board of Directors

For more than 31 years, I dedicated my working life to Grocery Outlet.

I built a successful business, developed hundreds of employees, served my community, and invested decades of my life into the Grocery Outlet system.

On October 14, 2022, my career as a Grocery Outlet operator ended.

I believe serious questions about the circumstances leading to my removal remain unanswered. I am asking Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. and its Board of Directors to authorize a genuinely independent review of what happened and work toward a fair resolution.

Why I’m Asking for an Independent Review

Grocery Outlet claimed consecutive inventory shortages of approximately $109,000 and $117,000 at my store.

I dispute those figures and the conclusions drawn from them.

I believe the underlying records, calculations, adjustments, communications, and decision-making surrounding those alleged shortages should be independently examined.

If the numbers were accurate, the records should establish what happened.

If they were not accurate, I want to know why they were used against me.

My Disability Deserves Examination Too

I have ADD and am neurodivergent.

During a store visit, after I asked a question about marketing food trucks, Eric Lindberg told me words to the effect of:

“Your ADD must be talking.”

I allege that my disability was subsequently viewed negatively and played a role in how I was evaluated and treated.

Grocery Outlet may disagree with my allegations.

That is exactly why I am asking for an independent examination of the evidence rather than asking the public to determine what happened based solely on my account.

What I Am Asking Grocery Outlet to Do

I am asking Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. and its Board of Directors to:

1. Authorize an independent review of the circumstances surrounding my removal.

2. Examine the disputed inventory shortages, including the underlying records, calculations, adjustments, and communications.

3. Review my allegations concerning disability discrimination and any relevant communications involving my disability.

4. Preserve and examine relevant records and communications connected with the decisions affecting my business.

5. Provide meaningful answers to legitimate questions about how and why my removal occurred.

6. Engage in a good-faith resolution process and provide an appropriate remedy if the independent examination substantiates wrongdoing.

After 31 Years, I Am Asking for Answers

This petition is not asking the public to decide a legal case.

It is asking for transparency, accountability, and an independent review.

Independent business operators invest their livelihoods, families, careers, and futures into the businesses they build.

People with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals also deserve to be judged by their abilities, accomplishments, and conduct—not stereotypes.

I spent more than three decades building my business.

I believe I deserve answers about how it ended.
