We are a family from Cornwall, fortunate enough to have the diverse backdrop of beach and forest schools incorporated as part of our children's education system. The expansive benefits of outdoor learning cannot be overstated, particularly in these present times when the importance of mental well-being in conjunction with traditional classroom education has been widely acknowledged. For us, travel is not merely a holiday, it constitutes an integral part of our life education.

Exploring the world imparts invaluable lessons that transcend the traditional boundaries of education, making our planet the biggest classroom. Gaining global awareness and cultural sensitivity, developing adaptability, resilience and problem-solving skills - these are just a few of the advantages of educational travel that could significantly enrich our children's learning experience, and potentially outweigh the necessity of mastering abstract algebraic concepts.

Yet, the current legislation prohibits pulling children out of school during term time for any holiday or travel reasons. This petition seeks to question and amend this law to give more weight to the educational benefits that travel can afford. By doing so, we would provide opportunities to broaden our children’s horizons, nurture their personal growth, and promote their mental well-being - elements of education often overlooked, yet vitally important for child Development.

Our children are taught Geography as a part of the National curriculum, yet confined to a classroom to consume it's facts- sure they may get to watch an educational video or two if they're lucky BUT any holiday, whether it's to the Pyramids or an all-inclusive in Spain is highly educational.
