Amend the Law Permitting Harm to Coyotes Freely

Amend the Law Permitting Harm to Coyotes Freely
The Issue
We are a group of four grade-eight students from Toronto. Our love for animals and our environment has led us to a shocking discovery. In our research about coyotes, we came across a law that currently allows these beautiful creatures to be killed or harmed without consequence. This rule sprung us into action, not just for the coyotes but also for our community. We learned through research that coyotes are not the menace they are portrayed as. They're important members of our ecosystem, an ecosystem we share and must learn to respect.
Furthermore, research indicates that coyotes help control rodent populations and distribute plant seeds, adding more balance to our Toronto environment (Smith & Wilson, 2015).
Yet, by allowing these animals to be killed, we are threatening this balance. It is important to note that encounters with coyotes can be safely managed with education and proactive measures. Our group focuses on raising awareness about coyotes, how we affect their existence and how we can co-exist peacefully. We genuinely believe that increased awareness, proper education on dealing with coyotes and revised animal protection laws will lend a hand to creating a safer city for both us and them.
Our call is simple, but the stakes are high. We ask you to support our petition, and together we can work to ensure that the law is amended to protect coyotes from harm. By signing this petition, you help us take one step closer to a future where humans and coyotes can peacefully coexist. Please sign this petition today.
