The City Council of Hood River, Oregon is planning to pass a resolution that has raised concerns among many residents, visitors and other communities. While the intention behind this resolution may be good, we believe further language in a form of an ammendment  is necessary to better serve our community. We believe in the power of democratic governance and we urge our city council to reconsider and amend this resolution.

The required amendments are as follow:

1) Change the title to Resolution 2024 – XX Calling for an immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and Gaza

2) add the following to the resolution:

a) The city council recognize that Hamas is a terrorist organization
b) Any cease fire in Gaza must include the immediate release of all the hostages held in Gaza
c) The city of Hood River denounce any form of antisemitism.

Hood River is home to over 7,000 residents (US Census Bureau), all of whom deserve a say in how their city is run. This petition isn't about negating the work done by our elected officials; rather, it's about ensuring that every decision made reflects the will and best interests of its people.
