I live on all dirt roads in Okeechobee and own a Side-by-Side vehicle (SXS). In my daily life, the SXS is more than just a recreational vehicle; it's a necessity for day-to-day activities like visiting friends, checking the mail, and taking out the trash. However, under the current Okeechobee legislation, this simple lifestyle is heavily restricted, making it difficult for residents like me to live comfortably.

Contrast this to the broader Florida State Law, which supports and understands the need for the use of such vehicles, particularly in areas defined by dirt roads and vast distances. More lenient ATV legislation makes living easier for residents like myself across the entirety of the Sunshine State. This stark difference between the local and state laws on ATV usage does not seem to take into account the unique needs of Okeechobee's residents.

Updating our local ATV law in line with the state's is necessary for Okeechobee. It would benefit not only me but every resident, who like me, relies on their SXS to carry out everyday tasks. We must stand together and rally for our right to use our ATVs in line with the standards of the Florida State Law.
