The Issue

Imagine waking up every morning to the sounds of lawn mowers, power washers, and various maintenance activities, disrupting the much-needed peace and tranquility of your home. This is the daily reality for residents living along Ontario Street, adjacent to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park in Oakville. While the park is a cherished place of gathering and festivity for many, the early morning noise generated by park maintenance activities has become an unbearable disturbance for those of us who live nearby.

The Town of Oakville Noise Bylaw currently allows these activities to commence early in the morning, effectively invading our personal spaces and robbing us of the quiet sanctuary our homes should provide. Families, retirees, and individuals who contribute to the diverse community of Bronte deserve the basic right to rest peacefully without being jolted awake by machinery.

We believe that a reasonable and compassionate solution is to restrict maintenance activities in Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park until after 9 a.m. This compromise will ensure that residents have the opportunity to start their day peacefully, while still allowing ample time for park maintenance to be performed.

Local community voices, like those of Bronte's residents, must be heard and respected when decisions impacting our neighborhoods are made. It's essential for us to be included in the dialogues that shape our living environments, and our plea is simple: let us enjoy our mornings in peace. The community at large benefits when its parts are functioning harmoniously.

By signing this petition, you are standing up for the rights of local residents to enjoy undisturbed mornings, leading to a more harmonious co-existence with our cherished park amenities. Let's urge the Town of Oakville to listen to our concerns and make the necessary amendments to the noise bylaw. Your support can bring about this essential change. Sign and help us safeguard the peace of our mornings.
