Amend Laws to Prevent Dog Attacks

Amend Laws to Prevent Dog Attacks
The Issue
My beloved dog Daisy is gone forever, taken from us in an incident that has become all too common. On an ordinary walk, my two dogs Daisy & Coco were suddenly attacked by two off-lead dogs. The attack was savage and brutal, and led to the death of our fur-ever friend Daisy and the injuries to Coco will leave lasting scars, both physically and emotionally.
Such attacks are not isolated; they are part of a shocking national trend. In the past five years, the number of reported dog attacks in our community has risen by 76%, affecting not only pets but also children and adults who bear both the physical and psychological wounds. Statistics show that many of these attacks involve dogs that are not properly controlled or leashed by their owners.
This tragedy was avoidable with the right legislation in place. Current laws are inadequate, failing to ensure that dogs in public spaces are leashed and under control. We urge lawmakers to tighten regulations to prevent such incidents, including mandating that all dogs be leashed in public, requiring training and behavior assessments for dogs involved in attacks, and imposing stricter penalties on the owners responsible.
By signing this petition, you join a movement to protect our loved ones and pets. Together, we can push for decisive action and create a safer environment for everyone. We owe it to Daisy and every victim of these preventable attacks to fight for significant legislative reform. Please add your voice and sign this petition to prompt change before more lives are shattered.
