Amend EPA Standards to Permit Large Auto Makers to Manufacture and Sell Compact Cars and Light Trucks

Amend EPA Standards to Permit Large Auto Makers to Manufacture and Sell Compact Cars and Light Trucks
The Issue
As a hardworking, God-fearing American, I've found that the current EPA standards often force people like me towards larger, less practical vehicles — the very opposite of what we need. We don't need pickup trucks that guzzle our hard-earned money as fuel; rather, we need practical, economical small cars and light trucks that would perfectly meet our needs.
The EPA emission standards, as they currently stand, make it unfairly difficult for large automakers to manufacture and sell truly efficient and affordable light trucks and small cars. That's why we need to amend the EPA standards.
Statistics from the EPA's own reports indicate that under the current regulations, it's easier for automobile manufacturers to gain EPA approval for larger vehicles. Yet, these are often a poor choice for consumers desiring efficiency and value-for-money. In 2020, trucks accounted for almost 80% of the new vehicles sold in America, according to Car and Driver. But how many of us bought these because we genuinely needed them, and how many because they were our best, and perhaps only, options?
A move towards more reasonable standards would be a change that benefits all - consumers, auto manufacturers, our economy, and yes, our environment.
Therefore, I urge you to sign this petition. Support a change to EPA standards that will give consumers true variety and choice, while still respecting and protecting our environment. A change that pays homage to the great American values of freedom, opportunity, and choice. Please, sign this petition and give Americans their right to choose their vehicles.
