Imagine the sense of fear and vulnerability upon hearing that the individual who once violated your peace and safety is potentially being granted an early parole. This is a reality faced by many victims of sexual abuse when their abusers, now elderly, are considered for early parole under California's Elderly Parole law. Some of these offenders end up walking freely in our communities, raising new safety concerns, particularly for our children.

Data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics show that among prisoners released in 30 states in 2005, approximately 5.6% of sex offenders were arrested for another sex crime within five years of release (Source: Bureau of Justice Statistics).

We, therefore, call on lawmakers to amend California's Elderly Parole law to exclude sexual offenders. By doing so, we not only uphold justice for the victims but also ensure the ongoing safety of our community, particularly our children. Please join us in urging our lawmakers to make this necessary change in the welfare of every individual in our communities. Sign the petition today.
